Hi friend,
The antidote to self-abandonment and chasing love isn't to do more healing work, it's to embrace your creative spirit.
To do what it is that you love and become so enraptured by your art, that all of your attention is redirected.
For years, I've worked with women who self identify as "anxious" or "chasing unavailable love". But the pervasive undertone of many personal growth narratives out there is you heal, and then you find a partner.
But the truth is, the relationship to ourselves is the foundation.
It's human to desire partnership. But in a world obsessed with finding "The One", I hope women come home to themselves and return to their essence.
I wish for more women to recenter their passions and creative hobbies rather than seeking the next partner. Because when a woman is in her creative expression, her entire world blooms.
The answer isn’t always healing and more shadow work; sometimes it’s creativity.

In my first book Becoming the One, the premise was simple: there is no magical “One” coming to save you from yourself. There is no “other half” coming to complete you, because no matter how broken you may have felt, you are and have always been whole. Continue reading…
I once had a long-time spiritual teacher say to me: “intuition is for the birds”. In the moment, I was a bit baffled. How could he say that? Intuition is real! And it is, but the truth is, fear and anxiety are often confused for intuition. Continue reading…

✨ Practice for the Week: Coming Home to Your Creative Spirit
When we've spent a long time reaching outward for love, our attention learns to point away from us. This practice helps you feel what it's like to bring that attention back and let it rest on something you create.
Many of us learned to treat our creative life as a luxury, the thing we get to once everything else is handled. Turning toward it on purpose is how we remember it was ours all along. This is a way to feel your own creative pull in the body before the thinking mind talks you out of it.
Set aside about ten minutes and find a space where you won't be interrupted.
Step 1: Settle. Find a comfortable seat or lie down. Take a few slow breaths, letting each exhale be a little longer than the inhale.
Step 2: Arrive. Let your body settle. Feel the surface underneath you holding your weight. Let your shoulders drop and your jaw release.
Step 3: Wander. Let your mind drift to a time you were making something and lost track of the hours. It might be from childhood or last week. It might be drawing, cooking, moving, writing, building, singing. Let the memory come into view.
Step 4: Locate. Notice where that memory lives in your body. Maybe a warmth in your chest, a lightness in your hands, an ease across your face. Rest your attention there for a few breaths.
Step 5: Notice. Bring to mind the pull you feel toward finding love or fixing a relationship. Feel where that one lives too. See how the two sensations are different in your body, without deciding anything about them.
Step 6: Turn. On each exhale, let your attention travel back toward the creative warmth from Step 4. You're not pushing anything away. You're letting yourself lean toward the thing that lights you up.
Step 7: Ask. With a little more space in your body, let one question rise: what wants to be made through me right now? See what image or word arrives. Let it be small if it wants to be small.
Step 8: Return. Take a few breaths back into your own center. Notice how you feel now compared to when you began. Any more warmth, any more pull toward your own making, any sense of what's waiting to come through you.
However this landed today, know that you're not doing it wrong. Coming home to your creative spirit is the work of a lifetime, and every time you practice, you build a little more capacity for it.
Journal Prompts
What did I love to make or do before I started measuring myself by my relationships? What pulled at me then?
When I imagine redirecting the energy I spend chasing love toward something I create, what comes up? Excitement, resistance, grief, something else?
What would I make this week if no one ever saw it and it didn't need to mean anything?
When was the last time I lost track of time doing something for the pure joy of it? What was I doing?
What does coming home to myself actually look like, in a normal day, not as an idea?
If my creative expression were the center of my world instead of the edge of it, what would change?
You don't have to heal harder to be worthy of love. Turn toward what you create, and let that be where you come home to yourself.
Love,
Shay 💕
