Hi friend,

The couples who inspire me most aren’t the ones who never argue or pretend that love should feel effortless. It’s the ones who ride the waves together through every season. The ones who make it through the long cold nights of winter, face their own shadows, and still find their way back to the heart of spring in their union.

Long-term love will ask things of us.
It asks for patience as we grow into new versions of ourselves and let old patterns fall away, sometimes slowly and with grief. It asks us to loosen our grip on perfection and remember the innocence in our own humanity and in our partner’s. All of it becomes part of the medicine of the relationship.

It’s ok for there to be hard moments, hard seasons, hard lessons. And the more both people show up for the learning, the more room there is for lightness to return. Life is serious and not serious at the same time, and the people we love most bring out both truths in us.

Our intimate relationships stir up our earliest conditioning, yet they also hold the greatest potential for play, laughter, and joy. When there’s mutual willingness, respect, and compassion, two people really can grow beyond what their family systems taught them and step into a new chapter together.

🌿 This Weeks Reflection

Be with someone who's willing to ride the waves of change with you and glean the medicine that winter has to offer. So that when summer returns, your love is stronger and the depth of your commitment is the foundation from which you both thrive.

Practice for the Week: Returning to the Season You’re In

1. Arrive in your body
Sit or lie down in a way that feels supportive.
Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.
Let your breath slow without forcing it.
Notice the simple warmth of your hands meeting your body.

2. Feel into the season you are in
Without labeling it as good or bad, let your body show you what season your relationship feels like today.
You might sense the heaviness of winter, the tenderness of spring, the fullness of summer, or the settling energy of autumn.
Let the sensations guide you.
You might feel tightness, openness, warmth, or a desire to soften.
Simply notice.

3. Meet what is present
Gently ask your body:
What is the emotion or energy underneath this season?
Give it space to show up through breath, sensation, or imagery.
Let yourself linger with it for a few breaths.
Your only job here is to stay with yourself.

4. Invite patience and compassion
Place both hands over your heart.
Imagine breathing warmth into the part of you that is navigating growth, change, or old patterns resurfacing.
Feel how your body responds to being met with compassion rather than urgency.

5. Remember the humanity in the relationship
Bring your partner into your awareness.
Not the story or the conflict.
Just their humanness.
Their imperfections.
Their longing to love and be loved.
Let your breath meet the place in you that recognizes the innocence in both of you.

6. Call in the energy of spring
Imagine a small pulse of light in your chest.
Not forced.
Just the suggestion of renewal.
Let your body sense what it feels like to soften one percent more.
To move toward openness without abandoning what you feel.

7. Close with intention
Ask yourself:
What small act would support more warmth, honesty, or presence in my relationship this week?
Let the answer arise from sensation rather than from the mind.
Write it down.

8. Seal the practice
Take one final breath that feels nourishing.
Place your hands at your heart and whisper to yourself:
I am learning. I am growing. I am opening in my own time.

Journaling Prompts

  • What season does my relationship feel like right now, and what sensations or emotions tell me that?

  • Where in my body do I feel the tenderness or tension of this season? What happens when I give that place more breath?

  • What old pattern or belief is being stirred in me through my relationship at the moment? How is it asking to be witnessed or softened?

  • In what ways have I grown since the early seasons of this relationship? What is my partner learning or growing into as well?

  • What part of me longs for more patience or compassion, and what might it feel like to offer that internally?

  • What beauty or innocence can I see in my partner’s humanity today? What beauty or innocence can I see in my own?

  • What small act of openness or honesty would help me move one step closer to connection this week?

  • What does renewal look like in my relationship at this moment? Where can I sense even a small hint of spring returning?

Wherever you find yourself today, remember that relationship is a living thing that moves through seasons. There will be moments that feel tender and moments that stretch you. There will be lessons that take time and patterns that ask for patience as they shift.

What matters is your willingness to keep meeting the truth of who you are and who your partner is becoming. When you show up with compassion, when you recognize the innocence in both of you, you create space for something new to grow. You begin to move beyond the limits that were shaped by your early family systems and into a chapter that is created with intention.

May this week offer you a moment where you feel the quiet beauty of two people choosing to learn and grow together. A moment where you sense the light returning, even if it is only a small hint of spring.

Love,

Shay
